EV charging on the Olympic Peninsula
Most EV drivers today charge their vehicles at home and occasionally use charging stations when taking longer trips. The Olympic Peninsula is a wonderful destination -we welcome visitors and are glad to see our charging locations growing.
EV drivers use one or more apps that show nearby charging locations. These include (but are not limited to) Plug Share, A Better Route Planner, Chargeway, Electrify America, Blink, EVgo, Chargepoint, and Tesla.

When accessing the map from the Plugshare app or website, click on a charging icon to see the charging capability (Level 2 chargers (green below), DCFast chargers and Tesla superchargers (orange below)) and the ratings from other users.
As of February 2026, there are over 3,000 Tesla Supercharger stations in the United States, with more than 36,000 individual charging ports. The network, which accounts for over half of all DC fast-charging ports in the US, has expanded rapidly, growing roughly 20% in stations since the beginning of 2025. Additionally, Tesla continues to offer extensive Destination Charging locations at hotels, restaurants, and parking garages. The Supercharger network is actively open to other EV makes and models.
Eight Level 3 DC fast chargers (4 dual port) and Level 2 charging stations are located at 2409 Jefferson St, just off Sims Way in Port Townsend (using WSDOT grants). 15 other Level 2 charging stations are located in the Port Townsend area – check your Plugshare app for locations.
Also, you can rent an EV through ZEV Coop EV Car share at two Port Townsend locations: 1) near the new fast chargers on Sims Way, and 2) at OlyCap, 1351 7th St, Port Townsend.

Here are the available charging options:
AC Level I – This (plugging in at home) is the most common method of charging for EV owners. Slow charging speed usually between 3-5 miles of range per hour charging time. This involves plugging the vehicle into a typical 120-volt AC outlet, and can typically use any indoor or outdoor grounded (3-pronged) electrical outlet. A full charge may take more than 24 hours.
AC Level 2 – Medium charging speed of about 10-60 miles of range per hour charging time. Level 2 charging utilizes 240 volts, similar to an electric clothes dryer. Consider installing a Level 2 charging station in your garage or outside your home. In addition, many public facilities such as parking garages, malls, retail stores, public buildings, hotels, park-and-rides and large employers have Level 2 charging stations available.
DC Level 3 – Often referred to as DC Fast Charging or Supercharging, utilizes 480-volt (or higher) three-phase input, allowing it to charge an EV to 80% in approximately 20 to 60 minutes. Primarily located along major highways for long-distance travel, these stations require high-powered specialized equipment. While typically delivering 60 to 100 miles of range in 10-30 minutes, actual speeds vary based on the vehicle’s max charge rate and battery thermal management. While most modern Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) are compatible, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) usually do not have DC fast-charging capabilities.
